"My daughter. . .was in your third week of camp. On her first day, she had a tremendous amount of anxiety, due to the numbers and a fear that her skills were not at the level of others. Your camp staff noticed right away and were on it! They were so helpful and attentive, and she went from struggling to having a wonderful week. She absolutely loved it and had a very positive experience. I just wanted to say thank you- as a parent- for taking care of my kiddo. It meant so much that she was noticed and lifted up." --Anna |
"I wanted to send a note to thank you for providing such a fantastic experience for my son, . . . , who attended both sessions. He has already asked me to sign him up for every session next summer and that is a ringing endorsement from an 11-year-old. While [he] of course loved the basketball, he also came home every day talking about the coaches, the new friends he made, and the life lessons that the camp taught. He had a soccer tournament last weekend and when things got tough, he told me that he thought about the lessons from Hoops4Life and kept a positive attitude and was a supportive teammate. The fact that he proactively told me that is a testament to the impact of your camp's teachings - it really stuck with him. His soccer coach also noticed that he was in better shape. So, thank you again for two great weeks that really made an impact on [my son]. We'll be back next summer!" --Meghan |
"I spoke with a [your coach] last summer 2022 at Seattle Lutheran High school as I was there early to pick my daughter up for her horseback riding lesson. My daughter lives for her once a week horseback lesson . She was upset with me for pulling her out of Hoops4life early to go to her lesson, and begged to stay at Hoops4life. That’s when I knew we had turned a corner with her love for Basketball. [She] had the time of her life at Hoops4life. That was her first time attending and she begged me to put her in all 3 sessions this summer 2023. She talked about all the fun counselors and staff and clearly the life lesson piece stuck with her because she did her homework and told me what she had learned. She also asked me to not schedule any lessons during camp because she definitely didn’t want to leave early (ever) again. We received an email informing us of sign ups for this year and you better believe it was on our calendar. She wanted all three weeks but due to a conflict we were only able to do sessions 2 and 3. [She] has counted down the days until session 2 started. She had a wonderful time last week. She spoke highly of everyone affiliated with the Hoops4life staff. She loved the skits and enjoys being part of a team. The life lessons were impactful and spot on for the age/stage she is at. She was thrilled to have her name drawn to win a T-shirt and so proud to wear her "Camper of the day“ bracelet. I am so thankful to have a couple more shirts to add to the rotation as last year's shirt has been worn so much it’s becoming threadbare. [She] also loved shopping for swag on Friday. [She] aspires to be a member of the Hoops4life team moving forward so she can also be a coach for younger children and work with you in the summers. Thank you for developing such a wonderful experience for my daughter and all of the other campers. You have made such a positive impact on our community and I tell everyone with younger kids about your camp. You guys/gals are awesome!" --Lori |
"Hi! Thanks for such a great camp experience last week! [My son] loved it and I was impressed by the energy and environment in the air at drop off and pick up!" --Kimmy |
"Thank you so much to the entire Hoops4Life team for a wonderful summer of camps and for a fantastic program that [my son] has absolutely thrived in! Both my boys have loved it and gained valuable basketball skills but also life skills that will stick with them for life. [My son] was really sad that this was his last summer of camp as he graduates out as an 8th grader, but He's thinking he might want to coach. Thanks again for everything." --Sally |
"I want to thank you so very much for the great Hoops for Life West Seattle camp last week. My daughter . . . loved it! In fact, she's bummed it's over and said last night, 'Mom, I wish I could do it again this week.' She was outside practicing almost every night last week, and again this weekend so that she can become a better basketball player. As a parent, these are some things I love about the camp: (1) The mix of genders: it's great for [my daughter] to play with boys. (2) The subjects you touch on each day (grit, respect, etc.). (3) The entire vibe of the basketball camp leaders. I'm so impressed with your high school leaders who were incredibly positive. Every interaction I had with them was respectful. You can tell they loved being there. [My daughter] will definitely be back next year as an 8th grader! Thank you again!" --Kathleen |
"Thank you coaches!! [My kids] had an amazing experience and we appreciate all that you do to make such an impactful experience. All the best to you!" --Casey |
"My boys LOVED Hoops for Life. I understand half the kids in west Seattle are already registered but is there any chance you have any spaces left for any remaining camps? Regardless, we plan to sign up for multiple weeks next year! Thank you." --Bonnie |
"Another fantastic session! [My son] has more than enjoyed each session this summer and in years past. I love to see his game improve after each session and that he loves his coaches. Thank you coaches! As a parent I’m in awe of how well organized you guys are! And my favorite is the quote of the day ;) A big thank you for all your efforts. You make it look easy, which I know means you work hard!" --Charis |
"It is turned out that your program is a complete success, and my 2 boys have fallen in love with it! I am very proud of [my son], who faced some problems in the first days and overcame them! He made a wise decision to keep going to the class, and now, I am sure, he is proud of that decision! They want me to sign them for one more session. . . . Thank you again for creating such a good camp!" --Yuliyah |
"My son did sessions 2 at Chief Sealth and had such as amazing time. Not only did the camp nurture his love of basketball, I saw noticeable changes in his actions during the week of camp and ever since. The emphasis on respect and positive relationships really sunk in for him both on and off the court and was evident in the way he treated his younger brother. Thanks Hoops 4 Life for making such a difference in the lives of young people. We will be back for sure!" --Amy |
"Last night my son asked me how far away Hidden Valley was….he is trying to talk me into signing him up for both Hidden Valley and Sealth camps he loves Hoops 4 Life so much!!!" --Karen |
What a great camp! Henry really enjoyed himself and is looking forward to round two in August!! Such great blend of positivity, activity, fun and life skills! So happy we found H4L! --Maria |
"This year my son has a bit more confidence and is going for the rebounds and guarding where he can. The feedback is that he likes the other activities as well and enjoys the way coaches add humor to the mix. He leaves tired and upbeat. I like that he can have fun at summer camp playing basketball even though he's not a committed athlete (as opposed to school sports). Thanks for offering a unique camp with big positivity." --Annalee |
"Thank you so much for such an amazing camp! My kids have been to several camps over the years (they are 8 & 10). They said 'Mom! This is hands down THE best camp ever! Sign us up again next year!'” --Molly |
"Thank you so much [Hoops4Life] team- hands down, Miles’ favorite camp. You could offer it all summer and he would be there. We are so thankful!" --Dyan |
"Lucas had an awesome week at camp. This was the first time our child attended Hoops 4 Life based on a recommendation from his basketball coach and we couldn't be happier with the experience. The organizers of this camp really know their audience and cater to the kids love of the game. Each day starts with tremendous energy and excitement to get things going. The kids are placed in age-based teams (NCAA or NBA) and the competition is real! Skills improved over the week and more importantly for us, his confidence did too. Thank you [Hoops4Life] team. You guys even took time out to sing 'happy birthday' on his special day which was a complete surprise for him, and one of the highlights of his day!" -Stacy & Jorge |
"All 3 of my kids had a blast at Hoops 4 Life. This is our 3rd year attending & each year they can’t wait for camp to start. Talk after pick up is all about who might be traded to which team & why... they LOVE it! My oldest now wants to be a Hoops 4 Life coach when he’s old enough! Thanks for putting together such a fun & positive experience for so many kids." -- Carrie |
"It was fun to scrimmage and learn how to shoot lay ups with my left hand" - Kyle, age 6 |
"My kids went to camp last week. They had a blast! In the evenings my 13 year old daughter said, 'I have the best team! It’s so much fun.' My son was equally excited. He didn’t seem to mind one bit that he wasn’t placed with his 'school friends.' My daughter was disappointed that she can’t be a camper next year - but intrigued by the possibility of being a counselor." --Hillary |

"I dropped my son off this morning for his second session in a row and he was greeted by name and with enthusiasm. I was so impressed. He had a great time at Chief Sealth and asked to do another camp and the only opening you had was at Mount Rainier HS. I agreed to get him up a bit earlier and drive him to Des Moines. That moment made it worth the extra effort. This is exactly what [he] needs. You are doing more for him than you can imagine. Thank you so much for recognizing him and being excited to see him back. At least three people greeted him by name. This means the world to me! Thank you! You put on a great camp and I know it is about so much more than basketball. Thank you to all the coaches for giving it 110% every day! It shows!" --Laura Mount |

"This was my first time enrolling my two boys ages 6 & 9 in the Hoops4Life program at Chief Sealth. This camp really fueled their fire for basketball. When we got home they would practice their dribbling skills and shoot baskets. I also overheard my 9 year old quoting things he learned from the life lesson to his little brother! The coaches were cordial, helpful & positive. I am so impressed with this camp and will definitely be signing up next summer." --Debra |
"Both my boys had a fantastic time and were so excited to attend camp every day. They came home tired, but "good tired." They enjoyed the teams they were on and the coaches that spent so much time teaching and encouraging them. One came home one day and talked non-stop for 10 minutes, giving me a play-by-play on each skill he had learned and how each play was to be executed with demo! I knew at that moment that your camp had made a huge impact on him, and he's only in second grade! Thank you for the time, energy and life skills you impart to the kids to encourage them to be their best. Both want to attend next year and multiple camps!" --Sally |

"Out of all the camps I enrolled my kids in this summer, Hoops4Life is at the top of their list. Not only did they find a new passion for this sport, they thoroughly looked forward to camp each day, gained great skills and confidence and would come home and practice on our neighbor’s hoop after each day. My son adored his camp counselor, my daughter made new friends- all in all, it was a 'win-win' for our family! My son is already asking to attend all 4 sessions next summer at Chief Sealth! Thanks again!" --Rachel |
