Work Ethic and Grit
In Hoops4Life Basketball/Life Skills Camps, each camper experiences at least one classroom session per day which is led by a camp director. Classroom sessions focus on building social skills, but also include other themes and points of emphasis which differ each session. While the structure of our classroom sessions are similar in nature, the curriculum for each week does not require multiple week attendance- each session starts assuming most of the campers are in their first experience- yet is varied to provide a unique and fresh experience to our many returning campers who attend multiple sessions. Hoops4Life Basketball/Life Skills Camps now has four unique courses which are scheduled in different areas throughout the summer (see full course schedule below). Campers are encouraged to attend multiple sessions, and will not repeat courses unless they travel to a camp at a different location.
Hoops4Life Basketball/Life Skills Course #4: “Work Ethic and Grit” |
In this course, campers will explore the importance of building a strong work ethic and how that will impact their longer term success. This course furthers concepts addressed in the "Dealing with Challenge and Adversity" course, however, the focus widens. The course will address how to demonstrate grit as one navigates the challenges life brings across longer periods of time, such as an entire school year, or an entire sports season. Skills emphasized are how to build resilience and grit across longer term periods of time, and how important this is to longer term success. Social Skill scenarios addressed in this course will be about how to handle setbacks, avoiding the instant gratification trap, and setting yourself up to build work ethic and grit over time to lead you to long term success and fulfillment! |
